Quick explanation

U wanna know what a bureaucrat/admin is? Lemme tell you: Some big cheese that bosses you around when you do bad things! Still don't get it? Fine, keep reading then......

Administrator Abilities

An Administrator is the all-in-one package of what you know and love Administrators to be, in the most literal sense they are dual moderators with the ability to block people. They are trusted members of the community, with the tools to revert spam and stop harassment, and prevent it from happening. Administrators can also give users the ability to "rollback" edits not made in good faith, as well as appoint new Discussions Moderators.

Stuffs only an Administrator can do

Bureaucratic Superpowers

A Bureaucrat can make other users into Bureaucrats, Administrators, Content Moderators, Discussions Moderators and Rollback. But they CANNOT TAKE BUREAUCRAT AWAY! So be careful... (OR ELSE...!) Ideally, Bureaucrats are the people who can instill a new UnAnything Staff team in case the old one leaves, and are highly trusted members of the community. Bureaucrats are pretty much always also Administrators, but technically the permissions are separate.

Content Moderators' Might

Content Moderators are users that are basically an Administrator lite. No blocking; no forum moderation. Content Moderators can edit fully protected pages, and also protect them. They're good for removing the spam that's already there, but not preventing it. Preventing it is the job of the Administrator.

Stuffs Content Moderators can do

  • Editing and moving fully protected pages.
  • Deleting and UnDeleting pages and files.
  • Editing and moving protected files.
  • Rollback.
  • Rename files.
  • Protecting and UnProtecting pages.
  • Patrolling pages (nobody does that.)

Discussion Moderators' Global Force

Discussions Moderators are the guys you can trust when discussions get out of hand, and can generally help answer your questions or redirect you to someone who can. Discussions Moderators may not actually make pages, but are none the less helpful.

Stuffs Discussion Moderators can do

  • Removing and restoring threads and replies by any user. *Limitations may apply.
  • Closing and reopening threads.
  • Manage Forum boards, and move threads from one board to another.
  • Moderating chat.
  • Deleting blog comments.
  • Editing and deleting article comments.

Rollback's Strike Back

Rollback are basically just normal users, but have a button they can press to undo all of someone's revisions. What we think Fandom wanted this to be the "janitor" role. Despite being so simple, the right is also a dangerous one, so it should not be treated lightly.

The Horrors of Honourable Former Staff

Normal names but with the special font of our staff are our Honourable Former Staff. They used to be staff, but have since had their user rights revoked in an honorable discharge. A thing to note is that if a user lost their rights by failing to perform their duties properly (see Incompetence or Admin Abuse), or otherwise have been dishonorably discharged, they will not be recognized as a "Honourable Former Staff" as it is a title of honor. Former staff may also request this to be removed from their name.

Bot Accounts

Bots are not so much automatic account, as much as they're accounts run by the UnAnything Staff with a bunch of tools and stuff for automation. They're exempt from all the spam filters that come from doing lots of stuff really fast (except when they're too fast). Should a bot malfunction, a Bureaucrat can take away its Bot status (whatever that fixes...) or an Administrator may block it.

Becoming Powerful

For you to become an Administrator or have any kind of Promotion, follow this guide. Remember that June is the best month to be hired, so if you're trying at any other time of year you're probably going to fail.

Colored Names

It's standard procedure when a new Bureaucrat, Administrator, Chat Moderator, Content Moderator, Discussions Moderator, or Rollback is added, their name gets added to the appropriate place in MediaWiki:Nametables.css. This is because we think highly of ourselves and feel like we deserve more just for existing.

What can administrators not do?

Administrators should not use their administrator powers to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version they prefer in an editing dispute that isn't vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in good faith. Ideally an admin shouldn't be considered "in charge" (that's what the King is for). The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the UnAnything. So in other words, if someone edits a page and adds something you don't like, TOUGH LUCK, BUDDY!
